Living close to the beach, I’d been watching the groups of early morning swimmers with great interest for some time.

I loved seeing them congregate at their meeting point in their ever more popular DryRobes, and then head off to the beach for their daily dips. I remained curious but not ready to commit, even with the positive encouragement I received from them.

I tried a few times, but didn’t feel that I’d met my swim tribe.

Then I met Rachael, one of my neighbours and a regular sea swimmer.

It was at the beginning of December when she started her 31 days swim challenge – that temptation and curiosity got the better of me and I ventured in with her and her boyfriend one cold and icy December morning.

I’ve been hooked ever since and go for regular cold sea dips nowadays!
